The construction of the 6 Million Gallon plant is well underway.
Approximately 85 percent of the concrete structures
have been completed. Projected start up of the plant and it’s
components is late April 2009. Equipment for the plant is
being reviewed on a daily basis for approval before ordering.
Here we can see the basic components of the water treatment
plant concrete structures.

These rapid mix and clarifier units have been constructed
and are awaiting the mechanical components that will be
inserted in each of the structures that will mix and settle
the river water before being sent to the filters for further
treatment, The water in the structures is used to check for
leaks or stress cracks in the concrete, prior to bringing
the plant into operation in late April 2009.

Once the water is mixed with particle settling chemicals and
settled for a number of hours the water is sent to these water
filter cells. Here the water is filtered to a clarity standard required
by the Environmental Protection Agency and the
Texas Commission Environmental Quality. This view from on top of the filter cells area gives an idea of the compactness of all the plant components. Space was at a premium and the engineer had to make sure all available space was used as efficiently as possible The foundation for the motor control center and chemical has been poured and the various electrical and water conduits are being plumbed in. Chemicals will be fed from this area to the rapid mixer, clarifiers and filters to make sure that the water is properly disinfected. |
The solids or particles of dust and mud will be sent to these
drying beds. At this location the mud will settle and dry,
once dried the remaining material will be the consistency of
dried dirt that can be applied locally back into the ground or
to fill in areas that need to be leveled.

The 2,000,000 gallon water storage tank will hold the filtered
water before it will be sent to our customers. This
tank is made of concrete that has been wrapped with
steel cables from top to bottom that will give it added
strength and useful life for many, many years.
