Water Line Improvements

AGUA SUD has completed or is near completion on water line relocation and improvement projects;

FM 1924 ( 3 Mile line) . This project relocated and upgraded approximately 13,000 feet of 12" water line from FM 492 to Minnesota Rd. and 8" from Minnesota to Bentsen Palm Drive. This will help deliver more water to the northern booster stations especially after the new 6 MGD water plant is in service.

Expressway 83 This project relocated approximately 50,000 feet 8", 12" and 16" waterline from Breyfogle to Showers Road to include upgrades and oversize connections. Business 83 This project will relocate approximately 9,000 of 6" and 8" waterline. Start date effected spring of 2008.

Havana Water Plant to Sullivan City. This project replaced 18,600 feet of 10" waterline with 18,600 feet of 12" waterline. The 10" waterline has been a problem for the AGUA SUD for many years and is a major source of water loss because of repeated breakages. The new waterline will help reduce water loss in the system and deliver better pressure and volume to the Sullivan City area, as well as provide a source water line for development along this section of Expressway 83.

FM 2221 (Mile 7) La Joya ISD has extended a 12" water line from Iowa Road to Salida del Sol Road. This water line will improve pressure and volume in these areas. The water line improvement also links the FM 492 (Palmview area) water plant and the Havana water plant; so that these areas will be able to draw some water from either system should there by a shut down of either plant. It is very beneficial for water systems like AGUA SUD and other systems that have more than one water plant to be able to loop both water plants to provide more efficient and reliable service. The real impact of this loop will be even more noticeable once the new 6 Million Gallon a day water plant currently under construction is placed into service in the summer of 2009.
